Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or commonly known as “Liquid Gold” is extracted from an individual's own body. This is done by obtaining 1-2 vials of blood and then using a centrifuge machine to spin the blood down and separate the PRP from the other red blood cells and other compounds found in blood. PRP has been used safely by medical professionals for decades for various conditions including but not limited to degenerative joint disease, hair loss, fine lines, wrinkles, musculoskeletal pain, and more.

Dr. Grover and his team of experts are able to use PRP by either injecting it into the skin of the scalp or face to help with hair rejuvenation and skin turnover. PRP can also be introduced into the areas of interest by microneedling the liquid gold into the skin.

This treatment is an all natural, organic, minimally invasive option for those with hair loss.  We may inject the PRP into the scalp or apply it topically after microneedling to stimulate your hair follicles to function normally again. The growth factors found within platelets act on stem cells in the hair follicles and stimulate development of new blood vessels. By improving blood flow to the scalp and hair follicles, we are able to see thicker and fuller hair. PRP has multiple actions at the hair follicle, leading to alterations in the hair cycle and improvement in hair growth.

  • PRP contains growth factors with variable effectiveness depending upon one’s genetics, age, lifestyle choices, hydration, smoking status, and nutrition.
  • PRP can be beneficial to use after laser skin rejuvenation as well to address concerns of scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity.
  • PRP is used to help brighten dark circles around the eyes and can be used as a filler for those with volume loss in the tear troughs or under eye hollows. The growth factors in PRP help turn over the darker pigmented cells and reveal newer and brighter skin that glows naturally; avoiding the overuse of makeup and concealers.
